
Reference Checks
With the Hiring Process so involved and extensive, it is understandable that when references are checked, they are checked with the intention of supporting the decision already made to hire. This predetermination leads to the unconscious solicitation of positive feedback. You may even be asking for ratings such as Fair, Good and Excellent. However, when you lead off with ‘Excellent’ as your first choice, you are possibly subconsciously attempting to compel the referee to give that as their answer.
In the majority of cases, references are based on opinion or subjective feedback. This is where the distinction between malice and honest opinion comes to bear itself. At JUST Checking we concentrate on the results and demonstrated behaviours of a candidate’s past employment, which will likely predict the results and behaviours of that future employee.
Our interviews are customized to the position you are attempting to fill. They are further customized by your requests to probe into certain critical areas of concern following your face-to-face interview.
The Performance Verification Service (PV) is based on actual historical performance results, utilizing situational interviewing techniques compliant with Canadian Law. Unlike ranking or opinion-based feedback, PV is critical in the hiring decision process as it enhances a candidate's eligibility and/or challenges their marketed abilities and successes. These successes are communicated to the prospective employer, either on a resume or during the interview process.
Our process is strategic and thorough. It involves a clear understanding of the position and requirements. Through a 5-step program we are able to understand the role, research the historic performance of the individual and communicate this critical information to enable organizations to make better hiring decisions.
Each Interviewer uses exceptional insight, listening skills, judgment and probing techniques. We respect the time given by the referee and move the interview through a strategic process to discover all necessary facts.

1. Each responding referee will receive a QA letter, thanking them for their confidential responses. This mailing will also include a brief feedback questionnaire. These 3 questions will address our emphasis on professionalism, respect for their time and the relevance of the questions asked during an interview.
